Have you ever wondered what the difference between Henna and regular eyebrow tint is? Our clients often ask us this very question. So this post is for those that would like to know the difference.
What is Henna eyebrow tint?
Henna is a plant based dye which is free of peroxide activators.
Henna tint not only colours the hair, but it also stains the skin. It penetrates the hair follicle differently; making the tint on the hair last longer than regular tint (roughly six to eight weeks as opposed to just four weeks with regular eyebrow tint).
Henna tint is perfect for brows with little-to-no hair as it builds fullness with the skin stain. It's also great for fuller brows and those that want longer out of their tint.
What is regular eyebrow tint?
Regular eyebrow tint is a vegetable dye that's activated by peroxide.
Regular tint colours the eyebrow hairs, making them appear fuller and darker. It lasts roughly for around four weeks and is perfect for those wanting to build up colour to their existing eyebrow hair.
So as you can see by the images above of both Henna and regular eyebrow tint, Henna gives the appearance of a fuller, thicker looking tint and it lasts almost twice as long. And without peroxide activators. While regular tint gives a more natural look and is better suited for people with exisiting eyebrow hair but will not last as long as the Henna tint does.
Now the next question we get asked regularly is: Who should have their eyebrows tinted? And the best answer is: Everyone! Why? Well, those with lighter hair will need their eyebrows tinted to make them darker even if it is just a shade darker, this will give you so much more definition and will pick up the finer, fluffy hairs to create a shape you never knew you had!
And this even applies for those with darker hair as well as they will have lighter, “fluffy”, hairs that will need tinting to achieve a more defined eyebrow shape.
Even those with eyebrow tattoos will benefit from having their eyebrows tinted because it will refresh the colour of the tattoo, making the eyebrows appear darker and more defined. If you miss that first week where your eyebrows are freshly tattooed then you will love having your eyebrows tinted!
Tinting will ensure that the shape is beautifully defined, and the brows are more visible. Tinting will also help create that perfect frame for your eyes! Which tint you choose will depend on how much hair you have, what kind of skin type you have, and also what look you are wanting to achieve. But you can discuss this with one of our qualified eyebrow stylists.
So there you have it, ladies and gents. We hope this post has been helpful and it's answered your questions as to what the difference between Henna and regular eyebrow tint is.
